FC Porto will host Barcelona in a Group H encounter in the Champions League on Match Day 2. The two sides have three points from Match Day 1, with Barcelona top and Porto second. Porto will come into this game seeking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Benfica. Prior to that they had posted three straight wins, including 3-1 over Shakhtar Donetsk on Match Day 1. In the loss to Benfica, Porto failed to score for the first time in eight matches. They also have just one clean sheet in the last nine matches, which calls for better defending against Barcelona. Both teams have scored in six of Porto’s last eight matches. The last time Porto hosted a Spanish side in the Champions League, they beat Atletico Madrid 2-1. Coming here unbeaten in three Champions League games at home, Porto will be quite confident.
The last two seasons haven't been great for Barcelona in the Champions League, but they had an encouraging start here. A 5-0 win over Antwerp sent them top of their group and this will boost their confidence heading to Portugal. Coming into this game they beat Sevilla 1-0 courtesy of Sergio Ramos’ own goal. That was their first clean sheet in three matches and also the first time they failed to score more than once. In their last three matches away from home both teams scored. Their run in the Champions League away from home, they have no clean sheet in four. They failed to score in three of the four, but we expect a difference here.
Barcelona are in good scoring form and unlike in the earlier season’s, they’re more promising in the Champions League. Porto will however not be easy to crack at home, having won away from home already. In the two sides’ scoring runs, we expect this to produce goals too. Our prediction for Porto v Barcelona is for both teams to score.
