The match

It’s tight at the top in the Championship and after Norwich’s defeat to Luton last week just four points separate the Canaries in top spot from eighth place. Daniel Farke’s men recovered with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and moved onto 31 points for the season. Meanwhile , the initial lift that Chris Houghton’s appointment seemed to give the Nottingham Forest players seems to have worn off with the club taking just one point from their last five games and Forest are currently in 21st just two points from the drop.

Norwich City romped to the Championship title in 2019 before being relegated in their first season back in the top-flight last year but they have their eyes set on going all the way again. Three straight wins in November put Norwich firmly in the picture and after a draw with Coventry and defeat to Luton they managed to bounce back by taking all three points against Sheffield Wednesday. At Carrow Road they are unbeaten since Derby’s 1-0 win here back at the start of October and Norwich have won three of their last five games when hosting.

Norwich have lost just one of their last 12 league matches but the rut has continued for Nottingham Forest under Chris Houghton. The manager lost just one of his first seven matches in charge but the side have lost four of their last five games and failed to score in any game during that time. The visitors have scored just 0.25 goals per game on the road so far and only Coventry (3) have accumulated less points away from home that Forest’s four-point tally.

Key Statistics

  • Norwich’s home games have averaged just 1.9 goals per game.
  • Forest have lost four of their last five matches.
  • Norwich have won three of their last five games.
  • All eight of Nottingham Forest’s away games have seen under 2.5 goals scored.

The bet of our experts

Forest do make themselves hard to beat but their lack of threat in attacking areas is concerning. Their defence eventually gives in and they don’t have the ability to respond so I’m backing a Norwich win and under 2.5 goals here.
