Only once since 2011 has Manchester City won the FA Cup. Their last win was in 2016 and a home win over Championship leaders Burnley will take them into the semi-finals for the fifth successive season. That means a trip to Wembley where the semi-finals are played which many still don't agree with. How can you sing 'we're on the way to Wembley' when you're already there? City come into this game in excellent form having beaten Leipzig 7-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday. They have won their last five games in all competitions with 17 goals scored. It's not all about their attacking ability as City (second in the Premier League) have kept four straight clean sheets. City have won their last seven home games by an aggregate score of 24-3. In the FA Cup this season, they have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal at home before a 3-0 away win at Championship side Bristol City in round five. Changes will be made for this cup tie but well, just look at the players they've had on the bench in recent games.
Burnley are 13 points clear at the top of the Championship and look certain to make an immediate return to the Premier League. They have lost their last ten games against City and conceded at least twice in all but one of them. They last beat City in 2015 but that's the only victory since 1974. Burnley are unbeaten in their last 18 league and cup games. Their last defeat was in the Carabao Cup at eventual winners Manchester United. Already they have beaten one Premier League side in this season's FA Cup. They won at Bournemouth in round three and since then have beaten League One sides Ipswich Town and Fleetwood Town, needing a replay to get past Ipswich. Only two of their last seven away FA Cup ties have been won, including two losses at City in 2018 and 2019, conceding nine goals. Another home win for City is the prediction with them ahead at half and full time.
