Georgia’s Dinamo Tbilisi will open their Champions League campaign in 2021/22 with a first qualifying round clash against Kazakhstan side Neftci Baku on Wednesday. Both sides are looking to have a mark in this season’s competition and after a shaky last three outings, Dinamo Tbilisi will hope to start a more stable run. They have two losses in their last three matches but generally their scoring run has been great, the team netting in each of the last six matches. They have also kept three clean sheets in their last five matches while most of their matches haven’t produced a lot of goals. In their last 10, only three matches have produced over 2.5 goals, while they have conceded two or more in only two.
Neftci are yet to kick off their domestic season so this will be their first competitive game of the season. They are coming from two friendly matches, having won the most recent, 2-1 against Spartak Moscow, to go nine matches unbeaten. In those nine matches, they’ve scored in each and kept five clean sheets. In six of them, they’ve scored two goals or more, and six have produced over 2.5 goals. They are unbeaten in seven away matches and will want to get the first leg advantage.
Dinamo Tbilisi and Neftci have both done well in attack ahead of this game. They have some level of consistency going to this game and we expect the scoring trends to continue. Go for both sides to score.
