Burnley v Ipswich Town Betting Tips [7 February 2023]

Burnley and Ipswich face off in this FA Cup fourth round replay after they were unable to separate themselves in a 0-0 first leg matchup the prior week. League One side Ipswich might feel as though they missed their opportunity to knock off Championship side Burnley as they’ll now have to travel to Turf Moor where the Clarets have yet to taste defeat this season. Burnley have been having a fantastic season under the management of former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany and have one foot in next season’s Premier League campaign. They sit atop the Championship table with 19 wins, eight draws and only two defeats, giving them 65 points and a seven point lead over second-place Sheffield. Burnley were arguably fortunate to earn this replay as Ipswich hit the post twice during their match at Portman Road. The Clarets last fixture was a convincing 3-0 away victory over Norwich and should come into this match with boatloads of confidence. 

Ipswich Town have been having a strong season as well and are in a good position to make a run at the promotion playoffs to earn a spot back in the Championship. The Tractor Boys are currently sitting third in League One with a total of 55 points and find themselves trailing first and second-place by six points. Fans will certainly see this as a significant step forward after a few seasons of mid-table obscurity in England’s third tier of football. Despite the overall positive season, Ipswich find themselves in a bit of a rut at the moment. They haven’t been losing matches but they haven’t been recording many wins either. In their last eight matches across all competitions, Ipswich have only managed two wins. Their last match resulted in a 1-1 away draw to Cambridge Town, their second consecutive draw and third in the last five matches.

With only a three-day turnaround, we’re likely to see changes from both managers here. Burnley undoubtedly have the deeper and higher-quality squad so it’s difficult to pick against them here, especially with the phenomenal form they’ve been in at Turf Moor this season. Ipswich played the Clarets very well in the first leg and this could well turn out to be a close match, but we still like the hosts to just edge this one.
