Brazil and Guinea will on Saturday play a friendly match in Barcelona, Spain. The match will be Brazil’s first of the June international FIFA window and Guinea’s second. Brazil are set to play two test matches this month with the other being against Senegal in Lisbon. Both matches will be used as part of an anti-racism campaign. Last time out, the five-time world champions played a build-up match with Morocco and lost 2-1. The match was their first following the World Cup in Qatar and made it two defeats in a row for the Selecao. Following a disappointing World Cup campaign, Tite resigned from his post as head coach. Now, current under-20 coach Ramon Menezes will lead the team on an interim basis. Menezes has a strong squad at his disposal with Vinicius Junior headlining the list in the absence of Neymar through injury. Casemiro, Richarlison, Joelinton, Marquinhos, and Eder Militao are the other high-profile players in the squad.
Guinea come to this match after a 2-1 loss to Egypt in Group D of the 2024 AFCON Qualifiers. The loss left them second in the group and trailing Egypt by three points with one round left to play. Guinea will seek to finish in the top two places to qualify for the continental showpiece when they resume in September. They will use this match against Brazil to rectify what went wrong against Egypt. The Syli National have struggled with a lack of consistency and have won only two of their last eight matches. Five of those games have ended in defeat. Mouctar Diakhaby was withdrawn with an injury against Egypt after an hour and could miss out against Brazil. If he misses, Mohammed Camara who replaced him, should come in from the start. Serhou Guirassy scored Guinea’s lone strike against the Pharaohs and could keep his place in attack. Naby Keita, Morgan Guilavogui, Amadou Diawara, and Ibrahim Kone are the other players in the squad who could feature against Brazil.
Both teams have shown a level of consistency in attack in recent matches. However, they haven't kept many clean sheets. Considering that this is a friendly match, sizeable emphasis could be on attack than defense. In terms of recent form, Brazil have a better run and also higher profile players. Our prediction for Brazil v Guinea is for Brazil to win but both teams to get on the score sheet.
