Atalanta v Sampdoria Betting Tips [24 October 2020]

Atalanta will look to bounce back from their heavy loss to Napoli as they welcome the in-form Sampdoria side to Bergamo in Serie A this weekend. Atalanta have nine points from their first four matches and are fourth in the points tally. Sampdoria are 9th in the standings with six points from four matches, all points coming from their last two league matches.

Atalanta were thumped 4-1 by Napoli in their last league match which halted their three-match winning start to the season. As usual, Atalanta have started their Serie A season with a number of goals. They have scored 13 goals in their first three matches of Serie A season – four each against Lazio & Torino to go with five against Cagliari. Interestingly, all four Atalanta matches this season have produced goals at both ends and that could be in play once again. Sampdoria are coming off a 3-0 win over Lazio that made it two wins in two matches for the visitors after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina. This is a welcome relief to Sampdoria who have started the season with twin losses – a 3-0 loss at Juventus and a 3-2 loss at home to Benevento. The two wins are also Sampdoria’s only victories in their last eight league matches – losing five and drawing one. An interesting historic feat awaits Sampdoria, however. The last time they have kept two league clean sheets in a row was in November 2019 with the second match in that sequence a goalless draw against Atalanta. Repeating that feat could be difficult, though, as Atalanta remain in red-hot scoring form.

Atalanta lost their recent league match against Napoli, but haven’t lost back-to-back in Serie A since February 2019. That tells a lot about this entertaining outfit which has been in sparkling scoring form. Atalanta’s four league games this season have seen at least five goals, while 11 of their last 14 home matches saw them score at least two goals. Sampdoria have been involved in heavy scoring games as well with 18 of their last 21 league games producing at least 3 goals. That includes all four Sampdoria’s matches this season.
