Celtic would be looking to make it two wins out of two to start their Scottish Premiership title defence when they travel to Aberdeen. This match will be played at the Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday. While Celtic started their season with a win, Aberdeen started theirs with a draw. A goalless draw against Livingston was all Aberdeen could get on the opening weekend. Barry Robson’s side were well below par in that game as they failed to get a single shot on target. With matches coming thick and fast in the league, League Cup and the Europa League, the hosts will have to improve fast. Their away form was a big positive last season as Aberdeen finished the campaign with six homes wins in seven, drawing the other. Yet, they haven’t won a home Premiership game against Celtic since February 2016 and that could once again prove to be a stumbling block.
Celtic started with a 4-2 win over Ross County on a day when their bitter rivals Rangers were beaten. With that three-point difference already in the bag, they could be gunning for more momentum here. New manager Brendan Rodgers will be worried about his defence though, having conceded two goals and also eight corners. David Turnbull’s brace and Kyogo Furuhashi’s goal sealed the deal for the visitors on matchday one and the duo will once again be vital for their scoring hopes. There will be concerns in the camp about their away form though, having lost their last two league games on the road last season.
