CONMEBOL's top club competition is ready for another round with 2025 Copa Libertadores set to kick off. Botafogo are the defending champions after securing their first-ever Copa Libertadores title with a 3-1 win over Atletico Mineiro in Buenos Aires.

The 66th edition of the tournament will see the group stage kick off on March 17 and run until May 29 with the knockout rounds following from August 12 to October 30. The 2025 Copa Libertadores final is set for November 29, 2025 with the venue yet to be announced.

Teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela take part in this competition, providing spectators from all over the world a unique taste of this continent's wonderful footballing culture.

Beyond the title, which carries with it significance as there can only be one "King of South America'', the 2025 Copa Libertadores grants entry to the next edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, where all the winners of their respective continental competitions face off against one another. Past winners: Independiente are the all-time leaders with seven Copa Libertadores titles to their name, although haven't won the famous cup since 1984. Boca Juniors have lifted the cup an impressive six times with their last triumph coming in 2007. Uruguayan club Peñarol have five titles while Argentinian giants River Plate have four.
