Wolverhampton Wanderers continued the trend of firing late as Raul Jimenez's effort appeared to have gave them all three points against Newcastle on Sunday night. The forward struck late to give Wolves the win over Leeds but his goal against the Magpies was canceled out by a super Jacob Murphy free-kick in the closing stages. As a result, Wolves come into this game in 9th, level on points with their guests Crystal Palace who are one place above them on goal difference.
The home side were in search of a third successive victory at home to Newcastle in their last outing after back-to-back wins over Fulham and Leeds but nonetheless, it's seven points from their last three games for Nuno Espirito's side. At home they have now won one drawn one and lost one game so Nuno will be looking for more consistency at Molineux.
As for Roy Hodgson he has the Eagles soaring as high as the European places as things stand. Palace were good for their 2-1 win over London rivals Fulham last time out, helped by a goal and assist from talisman Wilfried Zaha. That win ended a run of three games without a victory for the guests but they have taken three points at two of the three venues they have visited so far this season including a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.
It's been quite a common theme throughout Nuno's reign over Wolves in the Premier League but has become particularly apparent in the opening weeks of this campaign and that is that Wolves tend to get into half-time with a clean sheet and feel their opponents out in the opening 45 before pressing for a goal in the second period. The last four meetings between these teams have seen under 2.5 goals scored and that would be a good bet but I'm going to tip the second half to be the period with the most goals. This prediction successfully landed for us in Wolves' last game with Newcastle.
