The win over Leeds United moved Brighton closer to survival and as they travel to Molineux Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanderers, they’ll be seeking another three points to secure their Premier League status. Hosts Wolves go to the game on 42 points in 12th place, five points better than Brighton who are placed 15th. Wolves go to the game straight from their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, which was a second straight winless outing but a great improvement from the 4-0 loss to Burnley earlier. This season Wolves have been forced to deal with a lot of injuries to key players, and a lean squad hasn’t helped much. While they’ve been able to avoid a relegation scrap, it won’t be a campaign their supporters will look back at with pride. Their last nine league matches have two wins only, and four losses. They have two clean sheets in the last six league matches and have managed more than a goal in just one of 10. Four times in the last six home league matches, they’ve suffered losses and have failed to score in three of six home league matches.
This match means more to Brighton. They need three points to secure survival, and five points from their remaining matches will ensure they register the highest points tally in a league season. Their win over Leeds in the last game handed them a third clean sheet in five matches and they can look forward to building on it when they take on Wolves in this away game. They have three wins in the last 12 league matches, and they’ve failed to score in three of their last four matches. After a clinical output at home to Leeds, it is time for Graham Potter’s charges to put in the same shift away from home, where they haven’t won in the last three games, and failed to score in the last two. Brighton have one win in six away league matches and have scored more than a goal in just two of their last 12. In 17 away league matches this season, they have managed just five wins.
Both Wolves and Brighton aren’t doing so well in attack; they aren’t scoring lots of goals and we expect the same to continue here. Wolves haven’t done well at home lately, failing to win in four of their last six, and Brighton haven’t been strong on the road either. However, with all to play for here, Brighton will be more motivated than Wolves. Go for a Brighton win.
