It's not the ideal home game with which to start a new Premier League season. West Ham United begin the new term with a home game against defending champions Manchester City. The Hammers have a terrible league record against City and last beat them in 2015. Last season did see them knock City out of the EFL Cup on penalties and get a 2-2 home league draw after leading 2-0. West Ham finished seventh last season and will be playing in the Europa Conference League this season. Manchester City are chasing a third successive Premier League title. They have signed Haaland and Phillips and although Jesus and Zinchenko have gone to Arsenal and Sterling to Chelsea, they are still the team to beat in the Premier League. Last term saw them win 14 of their 19 away league games with only a loss at Tottenham on the very first weekend of the 2021/22 season. Back City to start the season with an away win, have a side bet on them doing so with both teams scoring.

West Ham had a good 2021/22 season but will be disappointed at not reaching the Europa League final and then only qualifying for the Europa Conference League this season. They have made some good signings and it will be interesting to see how Scamaca gets on in the Premier League. City have a great record against the Hammers and can start the new league season with an away win.
