The English Premier League season is almost in the books with only a few matches remaining as we enter matchday 37. Mid table Leicester head to Vicarage Road to take on the already relegated Watford with the Foxes looking to end a somewhat disappointing season on a positive note. This Leicester team seemed to have felt the effects of competing on multiple fronts as the squad was stretched thin throughout the campaign with a number of injury problems arising. While Brendan Rodgers’ team wasn’t able to match the heights of last season which saw the Foxes finish fifth and win the FA Cup, Leicester was close to making its first ever European final, falling just short at the final hurdle to Roma in the Conference League semi final. They did well to refocus in their last match and picked up a comfortable 3-0 home win over Norwich while Watford finally snapped an ugly six match losing streak with a 0-0 draw against Everton.
Leicester come into this match as favorites with a price that looks a bit suspicious. The visitors should be able to record a rather straightforward win against a Watford side that has only won two of their 18 home matches in this league campaign. However, with Leicester’s clear away struggles this season a better way to attack this match would be through the goals market. Leicester have only managed one away clean sheet and have been involved in a number of high-scoring matches this season. 23 of their 35 league matches have seen both teams finding the net, for a league high 66% – a number which jumps to an incredible 82% when the Foxes are playing away from home. Watford have struggled to consistently score goals this season, a major contributor as to why they will be playing Championship football next season, but they should be able to at least find one goal against a Leicester side that has provided very little defensive resistance all season.
