Wales v England Betting Tips [29 November 2022]

England face Wales in their final match in World Cup Group B. Gareth Southgate will be hoping for a much improved performance after the disappointing 0-0 draw with the USA on Friday. All four countries in this group can still qualify for the last 16. England top the group with four points, one ahead of Iran with the USA in third after two draws and Wales on just one point. An England win will see them win Group B but after that it gets a bit complicated. A draw for England would see them qualify but they'd miss out on top spot if Iran beat the USA. The only way they can be eliminated is if they lose to Wales by four goals and the other group match is drawn.

It was a case of normal service being resumed as England drew on Friday. It was a disappointing performance after the 6-2 win over Iran on Monday. The way England played reminded fans of how poor they had been during the summer. Will Gareth Southgate make changes to his team? There are worries over Harry Kane, who has yet to score in the finals. Recently his club manager Antonio Conte said that Kane was tired but would Southgate drop his captain? Replacing Mason Mount with either Phil Foden or Jack Grealish would be a positive move.

England have won their last six internationals against Wales and last lost to them in 1984. Six previous World Cup meetings have seen England win five with the other match drawn. Only in one of the last seven meetings has Wales managed to get on the scoresheet. That was scored by Gareth Bale in the 2016 European Championships. England are undoubtedly the better team but they need to be faster and a lot more positive than they were against the USA.

Wales have just one point from their two games but can still qualify. However, to be in with a chance of making the last 16, Wales have to win this game. Even that might not be enough if the Iran v USA match doesn't end in a draw. The only way a win can see them qualify is if it's by a four-goal margin and that is not going to be our prediction. Wales will be without the suspended Wayne Hennessy. The goalkeeper was sent off against Iran and his likely replacement will be Danny Ward of Leicester City.

They would love to beat England even if it didn't take them into the last 16. If they are to get the win, they'll need to play better than in their first two games. That's unless England put in another drab display. Wales come into this game having gone seven games without a win, losing five of them. Just one win in 10 (the victory that secured qualification) has been recorded. Their only goal so far has come from the penalty spot but they desperately need to find a hero in this match. Back England to get the win here to end the Welsh dreams of qualification.

A win for England will see them top the group. That's important of course but they need to vastly improve on their performance against the USA.  Kane does not look in form and a rest for him might do the Tottenham striker the power of good. Starting with Foden or Grealish also looks a move that Southgate should make. The problem is he's so loyal to his players and Kane may get another game. Wales have to win this match to stand a chance of making it into the last 16. They have put in two disappointing performances so far with no goals from open play. Go for England to win this game and place a side bet on them winning to nil.
