Both these teams advanced to the next round of the Copa del Rey at the weekend and return to La Liga action off a win in the last game as well. Villarreal have put together a run of four straight wins, in fact, two in La Liga, and find themselves 4th in the division with 32 points. As for Granada, a win in their most recent league match over Osasuna leaves them in 7th just outside the European places.
Unai Emery has enjoyed a fine first season as Villarreal head coach and it should merit European football of some sort come the end of the season. The Yellow Submarine are in strong position in the league with the majority of their points being attained at home. The hosts remain unbeaten at the Estadio de la Ceramica this season with 19 points from a possible 27 in their home games. They are one of only two sides, alongside league-leaders Atletico Madrid to boast an undefeated run at home this term and only Atleti with 25 and their guests Granada (20) have achieved more points than Villarreal have from their home games.
As for Granada they have a Europa League Round of 32 tie with Napoli to look forward to next month and El Grana are aiming to secure European football again next season via their league position. Granada bounced back with a 2-0 win over Osasuna a week ago to recover from back-to-back defeats to Barcelona and Eibar earlier this month. Their form on the road is, however, a cause for concern and must be addressed if they are to finish inside the top-six. The visitors have accumulated just seven points from their eight away league games so far this season and have scored just five times on their travels this term.
