Villarreal v GNK Dinamo Zagreb Betting Tips [15 April 2021]

Villarreal gave themselves a huge chance of progressing to the semi-finals of this season’s Europa League with a 1-0 win in Croatia last week. The Yellow Submarine managed to pick up a victory in their away leg as they handed Dinamo Zagreb just their third defeat at home since November. Unai Emery won this competition three years in a row with Sevilla and he will be keen to make it to the semi-finals here with his Villarreal team. The hosts were beaten at the weekend though at home to Osasuna leaving the club in 7th and currently outside of the qualifying positions for European football next year. However, they have left themselves in a fine position in this tie and by winning the Europa League they would qualify for the Champions League for the 2021/22 season. Villarreal had won six games in a row prior to their defeat at the weekend and they have won each of their five home games in Europe this season so they will fancy themselves to see the job through here. 

Dinamo would have been relying on their home form to give them a huge lift for this tie but that never materialised and they have work to do if they are to continue their season on the continent. Another win at the weekend domestically was another step on their road to the title in Croatia but they will need an early goal here to cause some trouble for their hosts. Zagreb have actually performed well on the road so far in this competition having won two of their three group games away from home before a 3-2 win in Krasnodar in the round of 32. They were beaten by Tottenham but ultimately prevailed in that tie and that remains their only defeat in 12 on their travels.
