Both of these teams had disappointing midweek Champions League results. They have problems in La Liga too with Villarreal in 12th and Barcelona 7th going into the weekend games. Villarreal lost at home to Manchester United and need to avoid defeat at Atalanta to get into the knockout rounds. Only two of their last seven games have been won. One was at home to Young Boys (bottom of their Champions League group) and the other a home victory over Getafe, who are one from bottom of La Liga. They are ten points off the final Champions League qualification place, but only five above the relegation zone. Villarreal have only lost one home league game this season. It's on their travels they need to improve with five draws and two defeats this season. Some more goals would be handy too with only 15 in 13 La Liga matches. Their last five games in all competitions have all had under 2.5 goals scored in them.
Barcelona are in deep trouble in the Champions League after failing to beat Benfica at home. They may well have to win at Bayern Munich to avoid a visit to the Europa League. Qualifying for the 2022/23 Champions League isn't going well either. They are six points behind the final qualification place and ten behind leaders Real Madrid. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, however three have been drawn. Only two of their last seven matches have been won. Away form in La Liga has been a major problem this season. They have the 17th best away record with no wins, three draws and two losses and just four goals scored. Four of their away league fixtures have seen under 2.5 goals scored. Go for that stat to come up again this weekend and have a side bet on a draw.
