Ulsan Hyundai will look to make it hat-trick wins in the K-League 1 season when they host a point-less Busan I’Park at the Ulsan Stadium. Ahead of kick-off, the hosts are top of the standings with six points, while the visitors are joint-bottom with zero points.
Ulsan have started their season with two straight wins. A 4-0 home win over Sangju was followed by a 3-2 win over Suwon Bluewings. Although early days, the hosts have set a strong trend with their scoring stat. No other team has scored more than three goals in the first two matches, but Ulsan have already done so seven times. Ulsan’s home record is formidable as well, with the side losing just once in their last 16 league home matches. This sequence has seen Ulsan win 11 and draw four times, while losing only one fixture. Furthermore, they remain strong scorers at home, managing to score at least twice in nine of those aforementioned 16 matches.
Busan earned promotion from K League 2, but their start in top-flight has been poor. They started with a 2-0 loss at Pohang Steelers and followed it up with a 2-1 home loss to Jeonbuk Motors. This extended their winless run in the top-flight with Busan now failing to win their last 17 league matches. This sequence saw Busan draw six and lose 11 fixtures along the way. In fact, with just one win in their last 26 top-flight league matches, Busan’s chances of a win against Ulsan remain very remote. Even on the road, they have been on a poor run. Busan have lost nine of their last 11 top-flight league away matches, drawing just two. Indeed, Busan’s last away win in K League 1 away from home has come in May 2015, 14 road trips ago.
Ulsan Hyundai have started well and their scoring record has been impressive as well. Busan I’Park have found the going tough on their return to the top-flight and it is tough to see them pick up any point from this trip. We are backing the hosts to win and we are also backing this match to be a high scorer.
