The big ‘North London derby’ between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will light up Premier League this weekend as the result could be crucial in the title race. Tottenham are top of the standings before this weekend with 21 points from ten matches, but could start this match in second place if Chelsea defeat Leeds in their match. Arsenal are 14th in the standings with 13 points from ten matches, although only four behind the fifth-placed West Ham.
Tottenham could only draw 3-3 with LASK in the midweek Europa League, but extended their unbeaten run to seven competitive matches winning five and drawing two. In the league, Tottenham are unbeaten in their last nine matches after starting their season with a loss against Everton. Tottenham have won six and drawn three of their last nine league games and have proven to be a surprise package. With 21 goals to their account, they are the third-best scoring team of the league while conceding only nine goals so far – which is the best defensive record. Crucially for Tottenham, they have won their last two home league matches after starting with no wins in the first three.
Arsenal had a 4-1 win over Rapid Wien in the Europa League midweek match, but their Premier League form is unimpressive. Two losses and a draw in their last three league matches and by extension, four losses and one draw in the last six Premier League matches show Arsenal’s dwindling fortunes. Interestingly, five of those six matches have seen at least one side fail to score. Arsenal have struggled to score goals this season and have just ten goals to their account – which is the worst tally among all sides except the bottom-three. Crucially, they could score only two goals in their last four Premier League away matches, failing to score in two.
