Tamara Korpatsch v Donna Vekić Betting Tips [7 February 2023]

Fifth seed Donna Vekic and world number 81 Tamara Korpatsch will serve off in the first round of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz championship on Tuesday. The match will be played on an indoor hard court with the winner advancing to face either world number 82 Madison Brengle or the wildcard Julia Grabher in the second round. It will be the first meeting between Vekic and Korpatsch. Linz is the first tournament for Vekic after she was eliminated from the Australian Open in the quarter-finals by eventual winner Aryna Sabalenka. The Croatian number one started the year outside the top 60 but as a result of reaching only her second Grand Slam quarter-final, she has moved up 34 places to her current ranking of 33. She has also moved up two places on the live rankings. Her highest-ever rank is 19, achieved in 2019. A series of injuries saw her drop out of the top 100 but making the final in San Diego in 2022 has thrust her in the right direction again. She comes into this match having won seven of her eight matches in 2023 which in turn has seen her rise to 11th place in the live race rankings. A win for her on Tuesday could see her move into the top 10.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Germany’s number three Tamara Korpatsch. She started the year ranked 74th in the world but has since dropped down to number 81 and is yet to win in 2023. Korpatsch has lost all four of her Singles matches this season. She lost in qualifying in Adelaide and in Hobart to players ranked outside the world’s top 200 and 300 respectively. Korpatsch made her Australian Open debut this year but lost in the first round in straight sets to Emma Raducanu. She also lost in the first round in Lyon in straight sets to Alison Van Uytvanck which was her last match before arriving in Linz. The last three editions in Linz have seen Korpatsch start off from the qualifying rounds and only made it to the main draw once.

It will be hard for Tamara Korpatsch to unsettle the high-flying Donna Vekic having not won a match so far in the season. Recent form will definitely dictate how this game plays out.
