Stuttgart v Union Berlin Betting Tips [9 October 2022]

They will now turn their focus towards retaining the top spot in the Bundesliga when they welcome a struggling Stuttgart that is still searching for its first league. Union Berlin has so far coped well with their Europa League commitments and have won their two Bundesliga matches that have immediately followed their first two European fixtures this season. They’ll be hoping to make it three from three as they look to build some consistency after trading a win for a loss over their last six matches, going 3-0-3 during that stretch. Key to Union’s success over the past two seasons has been their defensive solidity which saw Urs Fischer’s side finish with the third best defensive record in the league last season and are already tied for the fewest league goals conceded in the current season. The same can not be said for their opponents, who have been leaking goals and have now conceded eight goals in their last three league outings. Last season saw Stuttgart perform noticeably better at home with 22 of their 33 total points coming at the Mercedes-Benz Arena but a concerning start to the current season means they could struggle against one of Germany’s hottest teams.

We’re going to back Union Berlin on the draw no bet as our pick for this match. The visitors somewhat curiously come into this match as the underdogs as the oddsmakers could be concerned with their short rest and Stuttgart’s decent home performance last season. However, Uri Fischer’s side has shown they can deal with the obstacles that Thursday night football presents and should be able to show up with another strong performance on Sunday. The visitors certainly look the more likely of the two sides to edge this one although a draw could also be on the cards here.
