Spezia v Juventus Betting Tips [22 September 2021]

Juventus continue searching for their first win of the Serie A season when they travel to Spezia on Wednesday night. Once the autopilot champions annually, Juventus are a shadow of their former selves, and they lie 18th in the table after taking only two points from four games. Spezia look down on the Old Lady from the comparably lofty position of 13th, with five points to their name. The underdog side, who finished 15th in their first Serie A campaign last season, opened their win account for this campaign on Sunday when they won 2-1 in Venezia. Taking the scalp of Juventus would be a throwback to the days when both clubs were in Serie B in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal. A last-minute goal on that day won the game for Spezia; however, the most recent two meetings with Juventus didn't produce a scene to match. On those occasions, Juventus won comfortably, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring three of the seven goals that the Italian giants had across two fixtures.  

Ronaldo is now gone, though, and Juve don't look the better for it. Max Allegri finds himself dependent on Alvaro Morata, which isn't having the desired effect. They aren't much better at the back, failing to keep clean sheets in four of their last five matches. Their previous five away matches have featured a minimum of three goals, while Spezia's only home game this season was a 1-0 defeat to Udinese. A comfortable win for Juventus in the recent Champions League round of fixtures reminded everyone of how well they can play. We think that they can win here, but the game probably won't feature many goals. Back against both teams scoring.
