Sparta Prague and Celtic will be aiming for a win when they face off at Letna Stadium in Prague for matchday #4 of Group ‘H’ in the UEFA Europa League. Prague are third in the group standings with three points and three behind AC Milan in the second automatic qualification spot. Celtic are a spot behind Prague with just one point in the campaign so far.
Prague lost 4-2 in their domestic match over the weekend making it four losses in their last five competitive fixtures. Prague’s Europa League campaign started with a 4-1 loss to Lille and followed by a 3-0 loss at AC Milan. However, the 4-1 win at Celtic has given hope for Prague that they can still challenge Milan for the second spot in the group. That said, the win over Celtic was only the second for Sparta in their last 12 matches in the competition – drawing two and losing eight. When playing at home, Prague have lost their only Europa League match this campaign and have won just once in their last five such matches.
Celtic could only draw 2-2 in the Scotland Premiership which extended their poor recent form. The Scottish giants failed to win six of their last eight competitive matches, drawing and losing three each. In the Europa League, Celtic lost 3-1 to Milan and 4-1 to Prague, sandwiching a 2-2 draw against Lille in between. However, Celtic have been impressive away from home. They are unbeaten in their last four Europa League away matches winning and drawing two each. Even otherwise, Celtic have lost only once in their last eight Europa League away matches winning four and drawing three during the sequence.
Sparta Prague and Celtic have been the laggards of the group, but it is Sparta who have been a bit better than Celtic. We are backing Sparta to continue their recent form and pick up a win but our prime pick is in the goals market.
