Spain top their Nations League group with a point lead over Portugal. They travel to the second placed side in their final group match but first have to host Switzerland. Spain have eight points from their four games and a win over Switzerland will see them in the finals if Portugal were to lose in the Czech Republic. The Spaniards are unbeaten in their last eight games since a loss to France in October 2021. They have won two and drawn two in this group and that includes going to Switzerland and coming away with a 1-0 win. Four of their last five home internationals have ended in a win for the Spanish side.
While Spain are dreaming of reaching the finals, Switzerland are trying to stay in League A. They are bottom of the table with three points and have the worst goal difference in the group. They did get a home win over Portugal though. A loss in Spain will see them hoping the Czechs don't beat Portugal. Their final group match is at home to the Czechs on September 27 and winning that could well send their opponents down. Switzerland have only scored two goals in this group and conceded seven. Six of those goals have been conceded away from home. The win over Portugal in June ended a run of three consecutive defeats and five games without a win. Five of their last six away Nations League matches have been lost. Go for Spain to get a vital win.
