Southampton look to build on their first Premier League win of the season. That win took them to 15th in the table and they host Burnley who are 18th and still without a win this season. The Saints had earned just four points from seven Premier League games before beating Leeds United 1-0 at home last Saturday. That's taken them four points clear of the relegation zone. Their last five home games in the Premier League have had under 2.5 goals scored in them with Southampton scoring just twice and conceding four. All of those four goals conceded were scored in the second half.with six of the last seven conceded at home coming after the half-time break. Four home league games this season have seen them win one, draw two and lose one. Not bad considering they have had to play Manchester United and West Ham, both of whom only went home with a point.
Burnley have again made a slow start to the season. They only have Newcaste United and Norwich City below them and they are three points from safety. The search for some consistent goalscorers is still ongoing with only five goals scored in their eight league games this season. Their joint top scorer in the Premier League this season is Jamie Vardy. He scored an own goal in 2-2 draw Burnley had at Leicester. No other player has scored more than one league goal and of their five scored, two have been by defenders. Jamie Rodriguez did score four in the EFL Cup tie against Rochdale but has yet to score in the Premier League this season. They have lost three of their four away league games this season. Another defeat looks on the cards here with Southampton having their confidence boosted by last weekend's victory. A side bet on Saints winning with under 2.5 goals in the game is also advised.
