The Seattle Sounders will be seeking their fifth win from the last seven matches when they take on Sporting KC at Lumen Field for this Western Conference MLS clash. Seattle play hosts for their fourth consecutive home match where they have racked up a record of four wins, one draw and two losses so far in the league campaign. Their winning run was interrupted the last time out when they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against LAFC in a match where both teams wasted a number of good goal scoring opportunities. Seattle had previously won their last three matches on the trot in front of their fans and will be expecting to get back to winning ways against a Sporting KC team that has struggled away from home this season. Despite recording an impressive 2-1 away win over Nashville in the last fixture, it was only Sporting’s first in nine attempts. They now sit 1-2-6 away from home on the season and have concerningly allowed a league high 21 goals as the visiting side.
It’s a significant factor the extended home run for the Sounders and the subsequent rest advantage they will have due to a lack of travel for the past 30+ days. Sporting KC, on the other hand, will have had to deal with three plane trips in the last 14 days on top of having an extra match thrown in for the US Open Cup, meaning they come into this meeting on just three days or rest. The Sounders will have the full week to prep as their match against LAFC took place last Saturday. Seattle has also looked much better domestically since their triumph in the CONCACAF Champions League, with the two-time MLS Cup winners now able to turn their full attention towards the MLS. The Rave Green have now scored 10 goals in their last four home appearances and should fancy themselves to get a few here against a KC side that has only managed one away clean sheet so far.
