Sampdoria’s search for a first win in five Serie A games and a hope to move up into the top-half of the table faces a test against the high-flying leaders AC Milan. Sampdoria are 11th in the standings ahead of this round of fixtures with 11 points. Milan are top of the pile with 23 points and a comfortable five points ahead of nearest challengers Inter Milan.
Sampdoria could only draw 2-2 at Torino in their last Serie A match keeping them winless for league matches now. That included two losses, both coming while conceding two goals. Sampdoria’s home form is a concern, though. They have won only once at home in Serie A this season with a draw and two losses completing their result set. Each of those matches saw Sampdoria score at least once, while three ended in goals at both ends.
Milan defeated Celtic 4-2 in their midweek Europa League match making it just one competitive loss this season. That loss, incidentally, has come in the Europa League while Sampdoria remain unbeaten in Serie A with seven wins and two draws. Each of those nine matches saw Milan score at least two goals which remains an interesting pick. Additionally, Milan have won their four away games this season each time scoring at least two goals. The talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be available due to injury concerns, although Milan have the depth to cover for his absence.
