A Liverpool side in extraordinary form heads over to Preston North End on Wednesday night for a clash in the EFL Cup fourth round. The Reds are fresh from a 5-0 win at Manchester United that was notable because it appeared as though Liverpool went easy on their historic rivals. It was the third time in five matches that Liverpool had scored five goals in a game. In Mo Salah, they have one of the world's in-form attackers in their ranks. They are yet to lose a game this season, winning ten of their 13 matches in all competitions. They have won seven of their eight matches away from home, scoring a minimum of three goals every time they hit the road. Even though we can expect Jurgen Klopp to rotate his team, it's hard to see anything other than a Liverpool win in midweek.
Preston, however, aren't turning up to simply make up the numbers. Beating this Liverpool team would be quite a feat, and that has to be the motivation. Yet, statistics suggest that Preston don't have the means to beat many teams right now, let alone one of the best on the planet. They have failed to win eight of their last ten matches in all competitions. Their form is worse away from home, failing to win seven of their previous eight games. We expect a comfortable victory for the visitors. Back Liverpool to win by two clear goals.
