After seeing their Bundesliga title hopes evaporate for an eighth straight season, Borussia Dortmund travel to a relegation-threatened SC Paderborn looking for a bounce back. The hosts are bottom of the standings with 19 points, while the visitors travel here second in the tally with 57 points.
Paderborn held Augsburg to a goalless draw in their latest round making it three draws in a row since the re-start. However, they remain without a win across nine Bundesliga games, drawing four and losing five. With safety zone already nine points adrift and just six games left in the season, relegation looks a clear prospect for Paderborn. The hosts have struggled at both ends in the league, with their tally of 31 goals the joint-second lowest. At the other end, with a tally of 55 goals conceded, Paderborn have the third-worst defensive record of the division. Their home record is even worse with just eight of their 19 points coming at this venue.
Dortmund travel here after a tight 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich more or less settled their season. The visitors have won six of their last seven Bundesliga matches, but find themselves seven points behind leaders Munich. Any hopes of an upset are equally remote, with Dortmund not losing back-to-back Bundesliga matches since May 2018. Furthermore, they travel here on the back of a three-match winning run away from home. They have enough class to brush aside their hosts, although the absent list is growing. Start striker Erling Haaland hobbled off the pitch in their previous round and his absence could prove a tricky one to cover up.
Paderborn stunned everyone when they raced to a 3-0 lead over Borussia Dortmund in the reverse fixture. It was another matter that Dortmund survived that scare and developed their season. We are backing the match to produce over 2.5 goals.
