Osasuna will welcome Sevilla at the El Sadar Stadium in their opening La Liga game of the season, hoping to rise from the poor run they’ve had against Sevilla over the years. Osasuna wrapped up their preseason engagements with three straight wins, scoring twice in two of them, but they have had a poor run defensively, keeping just one clean sheet. In four of their last five matches, both sides scored and this is an issue they also had last season, failing to keep a clean sheet in nine of their final 10 league games. Osasuna are also without a win in their last six league matches while they’ve also not beaten Sevilla in any of their last 10 meetings.
Sevilla are coming from a win over Cadiz in their final preseason outing. That win marked a recovery from two straight losses against Arsenal and Leicester City and with eight wins in 10 matches against Osasuna, they will be hopeful of a good start. Sevilla have failed to score in two of their last three matches and they have two clean sheets in the last five matches. They didn’t have the strongest of finishes to the league last season, but at least they didn’t lose in their final six games. They registered four draws in their final six matches and just like Osasuna, they have to work on their defending. In their last 10 league matches, they have managed three clean sheets. Six times in their last eight league matches, both teams managed to score.
Sevilla are on a dominant run over Osasuna and even coming into this game, their run in the league was better in the closing stages of last season. Osasuna may carry to this game a good run in the closing matches of their preseason, but they haven’t faced opponents of Sevilla’s caliber but their strength in attack is noticeable. A win for Sevilla, and both teams scoring is possible here.
