The match

The struggle for survival continues at the foot of the Premier League table and although Norwich look down and out in 20th, 10 points from safety this could provide West Ham with an opportunity to move six points clear of the drop zone and sentence their hosts to relegation.

Daniel Farke’s Norwich City team came up as Championship winners last season but their stay looks to be short lived with their campaign fizzling out. They have lost each of their six games since the season resumed including an FA Cup quarter-final defeat after extra-time against Manchester United. Defeat to Watford in midweek, having took the lead, means that if the Canaries fail to win this game they will be officially relegated this weekend. At Carrow Road they have had memorable days with wins over Leicester City and Manchester City but 10 losses from 17 at home leaves them with the worst record in the division when hosting. The home side have lost each of their three Premier League games when hosting since the restart and have accumulated just 15 points from a possible 51.

Meanwhile, West Ham still find themselves flirting with relegation sitting 16th on 31 points, three ahead of the dotted line. A crucial win over Chelsea just over a week ago gave them a much-needed advantage heading into games with three of the bottom four (Norwich, Watford and Aston Villa). David Moyes and his charges have control of their own destiny but they have lost seven of their last eight away league games and the 2-2 draw with Newcastle last weekend was their first point on the road since the middle of December.

Key Statistics

  • The home side have lost six straight league matches.
  • Norwich have failed to score in each of their last three home games.
  • West Ham have won two and drawn two of their four matches this season so far against the sides in the bottom three and beat Norwich 2-0 in the reverse fixture.

The bet of our experts

Despite a poor away record I’m confident West Ham can come to Carrow Road and take all three points. Norwich’s goals have dried up and they are now averaging the fewest goals per game with 0-76 in the league. As for West Ham they have scored five times in their last three games so I’m tipping an away win here.
