The fifth matchweek in the English Championship pits one of the promotion favorites in Norwich against a playoff darkhorse in Millwall at Carrow Road. Norwich will be looking to make it back-to-back wins after taking three points against Huddersfield on Tuesday. The Canaries struck early and found themselves 2-0 up after the first 20 minutes. However, their opponents would make things interesting after getting a goal back in the 81st minute despite being reduced to 10 men. Ultimately, Dean Smith’s men were able to hold on for a 2-1 victory and now turn their sights towards a promising Millwall team. A remarkable fightback from the Lions saw them snatch what seemed like an impossible point after being 2-0 down heading into extra-time. What followed was a sequence of two Swansea own-goals in the 93rd and 95th minutes, resulting in Milwall escaping the Liberty Stadium with an unexpected 2-2 draw.
The result was the first away point of the season for Millwall as they had lost their two previous matches. Gary Rowett’s side is bound to have received a confidence boost after the result and the manager should be encouraged that his team has actually played quite well away from home despite not being able to get the results. The Lions were fairly decent and could have earned a point on another day against a tough opponent in Sheffield at Bramall Lane and were very unlucky to fall to defeat against Cambridge in the EFL Cup. Norwich will have to be careful here as they’ve already experienced a slow start to the season, managing just one point in the first three matches before the week four win. The Canaries will likely find their feet eventually and will be hoping the 2-1 win over Huddersfield will be a jumping off point, but this is a sneakily good Millwall side and a draw could be on the cards here.
