The Super Eagles of Nigeria open their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Burundi this weekend. The Nigerians topped Group E of the qualifiers, which also had South Africa, Libya and Seychelles. The Gernot Rohr-led Eagles won four times, drew once and lost once in their group encounters with the likes of Odin Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon leading the goal scoring mission. As far as current form is concerned, Nigeria have won twice, drawn thrice and lost once in their last six matches in all competitions. Next opponents Burundi were second in Group C, behind Mali and in front of Gabon and South Sudan. The Burundians won twice and drew four times in the qualifiers. Cedrik Amissi, Fiston Abdul Razzak and Hussein Shabani were the stars in goal poaching and are expected to keep impressing for Burundi in the continental extravaganza. From their last six matches in all competitions, Burundi have won once, drawn four times and lost once.
Nigeria are very well experienced at this level of the game and will keep on impressing their force upon Burundi. Expect a win for the Super Eagles, albeit a slim one.
