It's an important weekend for Newcastle United as they host 12th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers. Newcastle are 17th, one place and three points above Fulham in the relegation zone. A loss for United would see them drop into the bottom three if in-form Fulham can win at Crystal Palace this weekend. Newcastle have lost three of their last four league games, the most recent a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United. They have just two wins in their last 14 league matches and that's why they find themselves again looking for some victories to avoid a return to the Championship. They won their last home league game against out-of-form Southampton. Before that they had earned just two points from their last five at home. Keeping a clean sheet is a major problem with only one in their last 16 home league matches, amazingly against Liverpool. They do manage to get on the scoresheet themselves though and both teams have scored in nine of their last 11 home games in the Premier League. Both teams have scored in the two home league games Newcastle have played against Wolves since they won promotion.
Wolves are having a disappointing season, especially considering they were in the last eight of the Europa League last term. They don't look like qualifying for Europe next season and are 11 points above the bottom three. The loss of Jota to Liverpool and Jimenez to injury have hit them hard. A run of seven league games without a win ended their hopes of a high finish in the Premier League. A home loss to Southampton in the FA Cup was another disappointment. Form has picked up in the past few weeks though with three league wins and a draw. Two of those came at home, the other away at Southampton a few days after that cup defeat. That win is also their only one in the last seven on the road in the Premier League. This isn't a game to put large stakes on with question marks over both teams. A bet on under 2.5 goals looks a winning one.
