Napoli are the current holders of the Italian Cup and host Spezia in the quarter final. The home side are currently sixth in Serie A, while Spezia are 15th and battling relegation. Napoli won the cup last year and that got them into the Europa League after a disappointing league season. This term has been much better for them and they are only two points off the final Champions League place. Current form isn't so good though with two recent losses to Juventus in the Super Cup and to Verona in Serie A. Home form has seen just one loss in the last eight, though that was to Spezia on January 6th. Since then, two home league games has seen them put nine goals past Parma and Fiorentina. They beat Empoli in the last round to qualify for this quarter final. That win means they only have one loss in their last 11 Italian Cup ties, that includes a win over Spezia in 2017.
Spezia are only four points above the relegation zone. They won promotion to Serie A last season and an immediate return to Serie B is not on their agenda. Spezia have scored six goals in their last two matches. First off they won 3-0 at Roma in the Italian Cup, then played them again in Serie A and went down 4-3 to a last gasp winner. They have won three away league matches this season but lost four. Napoli will be out to keep a hold on their trophy and with home advantage can avenge that recent loss and win this match, leading at half and full time.
