PSG started the new Ligue 1 campaign with back-to- back defeats but have who six games in a row since to leave them top of the division. They travel to face a Nantes side who are currently 15th after seven games having picked up two wins so far. The hosts were 3-1 winners at home to Brest last weekend after back-to-back defeats to Nice and Lille for Christian Gourcuff’s side. At home they have taken seven points from a possible nine which is all but one of their current points total. However, like many other Ligue 1 clubs they have struggled against PSG and have just one win over the Parisians since 2004.
The visitors appear to have clicked into full gear despite a blip on the continent when hosting Manchester United last week as they lost 2-1. They managed to get on the board in the Champions League with a 2-0 win in Istanbul during the week and Thomas Tuchel’s team are on a six-game winning run in the league coming into this fixture. Their 4-0 win over Dijon last weekend also brought their fifth clean sheet in six. On the road they lost their first game in Lens but they have won all three matches since then and haven’t conceded a goal.
The market of to win both halves throws up some real value for PSG in this game. Their dominance domestically is well documented and their squad depth allows for them to cope with such a congested schedule. I’m expecting them to continue their relentless streak in Ligue 1 and I’m tipping PSG to win both halves.
