Monaco have to break their poor recent record in Ligue 1 against Paris Saint-Germain when they welcome the league leaders to Stade Louis II in round #11 action right after the international break. Monaco are sixth in the standings with 17 points which is just two behind the second-placed Lille, but only two ahead of the tenth-placed Metz. PSG are top of the table with 24 points from ten matches and five ahead of their nearest challengers Lille.
Monaco went to the international break with a 2-1 win over Nice making it back-to-back league wins. Monaco remain one of the top-scoring sides of the league with 17 goals, which is the joint-third most tally. Encouragingly, Monaco are unbeaten at home in Ligue 1 this season, winning three and drawing two. High-scoring remains a theme here too, as Monaco have scored at least two goals in four of their five home league matches. Moreover, four of Monaco’s five home league matches have seen goals at both ends which could be the case in this fixture.
PSG recovered from a two-match losing start to the season and have notched up eight wins in a row to zoom past their challengers. The three-time defending champions have been the free-scoring side of the league with 26 goals which is at least eight goals more than every other club. Furthermore, PSG have conceded just three goals in the season – two of those in their two defeats. Additionally, they have won seven of their last eight matches with a clean sheet. Six of those eight Ligue 1 wins saw PSG scoring at least three goals – another tribute to their scoring form. It will be interesting, though, to see if Kylian Mbappe has recovered from the injury that kept him out of France’s clash with Portugal.
Paris Saint-Germain have an excellent record against Monaco in the recent times. They have won five and drawn two of the last seven top-flight matches against Monaco. Furthermore, PSG have lost only two of their last 16 Ligue 1 games against Monaco – winning eight and drawing six. That said, Monaco are unbeaten at home in their last eight Ligue 1 games which gives them a glimmer of hope. Regardless, we expect this match to produce a high-scoring match. We are backing this match to produce over 3.5 goals.
