Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain aim to maintain their perfect start to the campaign when they travel to Metz on Wednesday evening. The French giants have started the season like a team determined to reclaim the title they lost earlier in 2021. Six wins from the opening six matches put PSG five points clear of their nearest rivals, Marseille, ahead of this fixture. Metz, meanwhile, are rock bottom of the French top flight, yet to win a game, and with only three points from six outings. It is, therefore, a bad time to play a team they have lost their last 11 matches against, one that can field a Lionel Messi who is determined to end a goal drought. Messi has yet to open his account for the club three games into his PSG career and looked furious when manager Mauricio Pochettino substituted him during a 2-1 victory over Lyon at the weekend. PSG have won on their last five visits to the Stade Saint-Symphorien, scoring three or more goals on four occasions. Although the star-studded forward line of PSG haven't clicked yet, one feels as though it is a matter of time given the talents that are concerned. Messi will play like a man possessed this weekend.
In this campaign, Kylian Mbappe has been the key performer for PSG, finding the net four times and creating another three goals for teammates. It is no wonder that PSG are so desperate to hang on to the France international. Mbappe will probably score against a Metz team that has failed to win their last 11 home matches. Metz have failed to score in their last two games. Back PSG to be ahead at the end of both halves.
