Manchester United might need to win this match to go back to the top of the Premier League. They host Sheffield United who are stranded at the bottom of the table. United are two points clear at the top going into this set of fixtures but both Manchester City and Leicester City can go above them if winning earlier in the week. They are unbeaten in their last 13 league games with ten of those matches being won. The days of them having an appalling home record have long gone. The last five home league games have produced 13 points with only Manchester City avoiding defeat. That's a massive improvement on the one point from four games that preceded this improved run. With players such as Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood. MartialĀ and even Pogba in form, United should have few problems getting another three points here.
Sheffield United are on their way back to the Championship. They have just five points from their 19 league games and are 12 points from safety, all but 13 due to their terrible goal difference. The Blades have won three of their last four games but that doesn't for one minute suggest they are in form. Two of those wins came against lower league sides in the FA Cup. The other was against Newcastle who at present are playing like a side from the lower leagues. United fans might be glad they can't see their team in person. This week they don't just travel to Old Trafford but on Saturday have to play Manchester City at the Etihad. Away form in the Premier League has seen United earn just one point from nine games, a draw at Brighton. They've not just been struggling this season on their Premier League travels. Since June, they have played 15 games, drawing three and losing 12 with only six goals scored. They actually led in the reverse fixture against United but ended up losing 3-2. They lost 3-0 here in June and another away defeat awaits them here. Go for a home win for Manchester United and be leading at both half and full time.
