Istanbul Basaksehir will hope to strike gold for the second time in a row when they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in match four of Group ‘H’ in the UEFA Champions League. United are top of the standings with six points from three matches while Basaksehir are bottom of the group with three points ahead of this match.
United lost 2-1 to Basaksehir in the reverse fixture on the back of some shocking defending leaving a lot of question marks on this side. The ‘Red Devils’ have certainly frustrated their fans and tested their patience considering how good they were against PSG and Leipzig. Untied won both their opening two fixtures of the group – a 2-1 win away from home against PSG and a 5-0 smashing win at home over Leipzig. That said, United continue to be inconsistent with their displays and have won just four of their last eight competitive matches – losing three – ahead of their weekend match against West Brom. Even at home in the Champions League competition, United have won just two of their last seven matches – losing four and drawing one.
Basaksehir lost 3-2 to Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig over the weekend making it two back-to-back competitive losses. Each of their last five competitive matches, however, have seen goals at both ends with their three wins and one of the two losses coming via a single-goal margin. The win at home in the last round was historic, though, stopping their four-match losing run in the competition – all four losses without scoring a goal. Away from home, they have lost their last two matches with an identical 2-0 scoreline.
It is difficult to assess which Manchester United will turn up these days. The one that hammered Leipzig and got the better of PSG away from home is a formidably performing unit, but United have struggled at home this season. All these troubles should be put to rest, though, against Istanbul Basaksehir who haven’t really enjoyed their travels. We are backing a United win coupled with over 2.5 goals in the match.
