Manchester City continue their bid to win three major trophies this season. They travel to Wembley to take on Championship side Sheffield United in the first of the FA Cup semi-finals. The winners will face wither Manchester United or Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup final. Both sides are second in the Premier League and Championship respectively but it's City who still very much dream of a top-spot finish. Manchester City come into this semi-final unbeaten in their last 15 games. TenĀ in a row had been won before drawing 1-1 at Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday. They've managed to score at least three times in six of their last seven fixtures. It's not all about their scoring power, their defence is yet to concede a goal in this season's FA Cup. City have had wins over Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol City and Championship leaders Burnley with an aggregate score of 14-0. They led at both half time and full time in three of those cup ties.
Sheffield United are on the verge of winning promotion back to the Premier League. That's likely to be confirmed in the next week but first they have this FA Cup semi-final to concentrate on. They last won this competition 98 years ago and it's 87 since they last reached the final. United have won six of their last seven games with the only loss being at Burnley (who lost 6-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter finals). To reach this semi-final, the Blades have beaten Championship sides Millwall and Blackburn Rovers, National League leaders Wrexham (needing a late goal to get a replay) and Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. This looks a round too far for them and we back Manchester City to win this and be ahead at both half and full time.
