The 2021/22 Premier League season is nearly with us. Before that begins on Friday August 13, it's the traditional Community Shield match at Wembley as champions Manchester City take on FA Cup winners Leicester City. The main interest in this match is likely to be focused on Jack Grealish. The England international could well make an appearance with his new club Manchester City if is £100 million transfer is completed in time. With the possibility of Harry Kane also joining the champions, it's more like Guardiola choosing a Fantasy Football team than the City line-up. His team has won the Community Shield twice in the last three seasons.
This is traditionally a match between the league champions and FA Cup winners, unless one side wins both competitions. Back in 1971, Arsenal couldn't play so it was FA Cup runners-up Liverpool against second division champions Leicester City and played on City's old Filbert Street ground. City won 1-0 and it was 45 years later they played for the second time, losing 2-1 to Manchester United. City again blew the chance to finish in the top four last season but did lift the FA Cup for the first time. Three major signings have been made so far this summer, none on the scale of Grealish though. Defender Ryan Bertrand has signed on a free transfer from Southampton and up front, Patson Daka has been signed from Salzburg for £27 million. Also joining City has been Boubarkary Soumare from French champions Lille at a cost of £18 million. Three good signings but you can back Manchester City to get the win this weekend.
