Manchester City and Pep Guardiola would be looking for a win over Chelsea to come out of their mini-slump, as they target a move up the Premier League standings. City start this round fourth in the table with 25 points, while Chelsea are a point and place above the defending Champions.
With 35 goals to their name, City have the best attack in the league already. However, it is the fact that they have already lost three times in the season that is hampering them. Additionally, they haven’t been their usual dominating selves at the Etihad this season. City have won four of their six matches playing at home. However, they haven’t been able to win more than two in a row. Furthermore, Tottenham and Wolverhampton have already shown to the league that City can be tamed in front of their own fans. Regardless, Guardiola will hope that his strike force will keep scoring goals and lead his side out of the slump. They have scored at least twice in five of their six home Premier League games and City will look to continue that.
Chelsea have been one of the most enterprising sides of the season. With 27 goals to their name, the Blues’ attack has been excellent going forward. Chelsea have won their last six league games. In the process, they have scored 15 goals and have shown the nous to be a worthy title challenger. After starting their away season with a 4-0 thumping at Old Trafford, Chelsea’s away form has also improved. They have gone on to win each of their last five away matches. Additionally, the ‘Blues’ have scored at least two goals in each of those and are looking set to score more. All of those have also seen goals at both ends, which should once again be a safe pick for this fixture.
Manchester City have gone nine points behind leaders Liverpool, which means they can ill-afford dropping further points. Chelsea might not be easy fish, though, considering the way they have been enterprising in the Premier League. Either way, there are goals in this fixture at both ends and that remains our top pick.
