Burnley return from the international break to play one of their least favourite fixtures. 18th placed Burnley travel to Manchester City who are third in the Premier League. Manchester City have won 12 of their last 13 games against Burnley (the other was drawn) and City are after a ninth straight win. The last eight games between these two sides have been won by City with an aggregate score of 31-1. Their last four home games against Burnley have all been won by a 5-0 scoreline. City have already won two home Premier League games this season by that score and five have been scored in four of the last seven. Add on a 6-3 home win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League and putting six past Wycombe in the EFL Cup and this is a daunting trip for Burnley.
The away side are in the relegation zone and very much likely to still be there at the end of this weekend. They only have three points from seven league games and are still looking for their first win. Burnley have now gone ten league matches without a victory but are only a point from safety. Only one point has been earned from their three away league fixtures this season. As always seems to be the case with Burnley, they are struggling for goals. Just five in seven games and one of those was a Jamie Vardy own goal and that makes him joint top scorer in the league. Jamie Rodriguez scored four in the EFL Cup win over lowly Rochdale, he needs to transfer that form to the Premier League. Back City to get the win here and be ahead at half and full time.
