A win for Lyon over Bordeaux on Friday evening will take them to the top of Ligue 1. They are currently third and host Bordeaux who are 11 points behind them in seventh. Lyon trail both PSG and Lille by two points, but they don't play again until later in the weekend. The home side had a resounding 5-0 away win at St Etienne at the weekend. They needed that win though after only earning one point from their previous two league fixtures. The home loss to Metz is the only loss they have suffered in their last 18 league matches. Only two have been lost all season, the other an away loss at Montpellier in September. Six out of ten home league games have been won and only nine goals conceded.
Bordeaux are two places and four points behind the final Europa League qualification place. They come into this game having won each of their last three league matches. The highest placed of the sides beaten was Angers who are tenth. The other two are both in the bottom half, including Lorient who are in the relegation zone. Before this improved form, they had just one win from their previous five matches in Ligue 1. Away form has produced four league wins but also four defeats. No goals have been conceded in the last three, but again the standard of opposition hasn't been great. Last month saw them lose to both PSG and Lille, another defeat awaits them here.
