Los Angeles Lakers will look to close out the Western Conference semi-finals against Houston Rockets when they carry a 3-1 lead into Game 5 at the AdventHealth Arena in Orlando. With three wins on the trot, the Lakers seem to have found their mojo and will be going for a kill. As for the Rockets, losing three on the trot has certainly dented their confidence and their talisman James Harden will once again be under the scanner.
The Lakers were up by 23 points in the final quarter but took their foot off the pedal allowing the Rockets to close up. Although they did win easily with a 10-point margin in the end 110-100, the Lakers will be wary of the threat that the Rockets possess. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis providing excellent performances game after game, the Lakers seem to be well on their way to closing this series out. Additionally, the Lakers have a huge advantage over the Rockets in playoff series – with a 23-16 win-loss record coming into this match.
The Rockets will rue the fact that their star player Harden has been struggling to lift them. Harden had just 21 points in the previous game and he also doesn’t have great numbers in games facing elimination. A poor second quarter where they lost by as many as 12 points pushed the Rockets down on the count. They have now lost 11 of their last 16 playoff matches against the Lakers. With elimination looming large, it is do-or-die, but the recent form doesn’t inspire confidence.
After a shocking start in the series where they were completely outplayed 112-97, LA Lakers have won three straight games with varying degrees of comfort. The recent two wins have come with a ten-point margin and that makes us wonder if another easy win is on the cards. We are backing the Lakers to do the job and finish the series right here right now. Our prime pick is Lakers winning this match and a small wager on them winning with a spread of -5.0.
