Marseille will hope to get their title quest back on track this Sunday when they travel to face off with Lorient in Round 30 of the French Ligue 1. Marseille are third on the standings, six points off top spot while Lorient are tenth in the table. Lorient have already surpassed last season’s tally of 36 points They are looking to finish in the top half of the table for the first time since the 2013/14 season and will hope returning to play in front of home support for this round, after two consecutive away matches, translates into a win. Despite the season being a success, Lorient have struggled for consistency, especially in 2023 where they have won just four of the 13 matches they have played in the league. They were humbly beaten 3-1 by Lille last time out and are now without a win in their last two matches.
Marseille have been unable to take advantage of PSG’s dip in form in recent matches and have drawn two of their last three matches.
