Liverpool are chasing a quadruple and will be looking to enhance their Premier League title chances when they play host to Tottenham Hotspur. Going into this game Liverpool are on 82 points, in second place in the league while Tottenham are fifth with 61 points. Neither of these teams can afford to lose here. For Liverpool, any dropped points will put them at a disadvantage in the title race; they head into this game trailing league leaders Manchester City by a point. After their impressive comeback from 2-0 to beat Villarreal 3-2 in the Champions League, the Reds will be buzzing ahead of this game, and especially with a 13-game unbeaten run. Liverpool have six straight wins and in their last 10 matches they’ve scored two or more goals in nine. Four of the last five have produced clean sheets and they have 12 goals in the last five matches, while conceding two. At home, they have 12 straight wins in the league with 12 clean sheets. They haven’t conceded a goal in the last five home league matches.
Tottenham Hotspur are battling for a top four spot so this game means a lot to them as well. They can’t afford to drop points in this game, given they are two points below the fourth placed team. Two winless outings saw them pushed out of the top four as they lost to Brighton and a 0-0 draw with Brentford. They managed to recover with a 3-1 win over Leicester City in their most recent game but this will be a tougher challenge. Twice in the last three matches they’ve failed to score and they have just two clean sheets in six matches. Tottenham have kept three straight clean sheets away from home but those have come against much weaker opposition. It will be a different game here against the team that just booked the ticket to France for the Champions League final.
Liverpool are clear favorites in this game; they have a great run and at home, they’ve added to it an impressive defence record. Tottenham are winless in the last nine matches against Liverpool and we don’t expect their top four pressure to ease at this point. Back Liverpool to win with a clean sheet.
