Liechtenstein v Iceland Betting Tips [26 March 2023]

Two sides that will be hoping to get their qualifying campaigns back on track will meet this weekend when Liechtenstein welcomes Iceland to Rheinpark Stadion for a Group J clash on Sunday. The hosts currently sit at the foot of Group J after conceding the heftiest defeat of the opening round, losing 4-0 to Portugal. In that match, Liechtenstein was allowed just 17% of possession all game and managed only two shots the entire match. The 198th-ranked side in the world has now gone 26 matches without a win in all competitions, dating back to a friendly against Luxembourg in October 2020. It’s going to be a difficult qualifier for the hosts, but they will hope that they can put on a better display in this one than they did in their first match. 

Iceland’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign didn’t get off to much of a better start than their opponents. The visitors played their tournament opener away against Bosnia and Herzegovina and suffered the tournament’s joint second-worst defeat so far, losing 3-0. In contrast to their opponents, Iceland dominated possession in that match with 63%, but much of it was in defense and midfield since they were only able to muster three attempts on target. With Portugal and Bosnia-Herzegovina heavily expected to top this group, Iceland will know that this is a must-win match and will need to do just that, preferably with a strong goal advantage.to remain in contention. 

With no wins in over 20 matches, it is difficult to make much of a case for the hosts in this one. Despite not being in very good form themselves, Iceland is ranked over 130 places above Liechtenstein, and while they may not win as emphatically as Portugal did over this opponent, we do expect a solid display from them in this one.
