After a goalless draw against Wolverhampton, Leicester City remain third in the Premiership while visitors Manchester City are second after losing 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur. The two sides are set to clash in the twenty seventh round of the tournament this weekend at the King Power Stadium.
With Manchester City having won the opening leg match 3-1, this match provides a chance for the hosts to redeem their image and protect their ascent up the standings and qualification for next year's elite European competition. The latter goal will be easier to reach for Leicester, if City are banned by UEFA for an alleged contravention of financial fair play rules.
With twelve matches left to the end of the season, and twenty six separating them from leaders Liverpool, Leicester cannot realistically pursue the title, just like Manchester City, who are twenty five points behind the reds. But second-place is up for contention as the two sides are kept apart by one point.
At home, the Foxes are in their element and have won seven times in ten league games, two of which ended in draws. Six of the ten matches had over 2.5 goals and only three ended with clean sheets for Leicester.
Visitors Manchester City, meanwhile, have won four times in their last six away matches across all competitions. In addition, four of the team's last six matches on the road had more than two goals scored with both opponents on the scorecard. This will be a fast-paced match but certainly promises the most thrill of the Premier League weekend.
Leicester have a home advantage in this game and an even bigger resolve to keep winning. We expect both teams to be extremely competitive, but for the hosts to either win or push it to a draw.
